Q:
Greetings, its the one year anniversary of the Artist-of-the-month feature! To celebrate this momentus occasion we have the company of Sick Animation mastermind Marc M. He’s got reason to celebrate himself but ill let him tell you about it in the interview. That said, on to the interview.
Ok so to get the ball rolling, how about a quick over view of who you are, what Sick Animation is about, what your plans of world domination might be?

A:
My name is Marc and I’ve been rockin the scene since Flash 4.0 baby! My plans for world dom are pretty cut and drizzle, fuck a bunch of chicks, beat a bunch of dudes, score a bunch of points, eat a bunch of cake, throw my jersey into the stands. Shit like that.
Q:
Well i think you’re well on your way! The big news at your site and on the internet is the freshly released Sick Animation : The Ultimate Party Collection Vol 1,
being mostly known for your animation work, was there anything in particular that made you persue this particular project? what sort of challenges or hangups did you run into in putting a large project like this into its retail form. One thing I noticed in your CD is that its very ‘legit’ and professional, its not oh i burned some tracks in my basement and printed cd covers on my bubblejet printer…
A:
My reason for perusing a musical project was that I had songs trapped in my heart that needed to break out into the world. As far as hurdles go, the massive lyrics sheet was a MONSTER pain to type out. It’s like typing out 80 minutes of straight talking. That SUCKED!! Also, a week before the CD was to be released, I got word from the manufacturer that the pressing plant (Sony) refused to press the CD based on “content” whatEVER!! So that delayed things about 2 weeks. But overall, it wasn’t too hard of a project to put together. Not at all.
Q:
Do you have a favorite track on the CD or maybe one that is of particular sentimental value to you. If so which and why? Let me put a booger in your pussy comes to mind for some reason…

A:
For sure, the epic booger in your pussy trilogy. A short narrative that was ripped straight from the pages of my real life. It really does ring sentimental to me because my ex-girlfriend would never let me put boogers in her pussy. I would think… ‘is there something wrong with me?’ ‘Does she not love me anymore?’ It really hurt me, but you know what they say… that which doesn’t kill me…
Q:
Yeah… that which doesnt kill you; you make a trilogy song out of it and go triple platinium. There’s close 60 tracks in this gem, did you have a bunch of unreleased things piling up that you were finally able to showcase in CD form or are most of the tracks fresh off the reel? I recognized six in a row and I think one other one from times past.

A:
Maybe 50/50. Released and unreleased, a lot of the tracks have been trickling in and piling up over the last couple of years. However, a bunch of them are braaaand blazin’ new! It’s a good mix I think
Q:
Now that you’ve wrapped up this project, do you inevitably see yourself making a Vol II or is it too early to tell? Are you ready to retire from the animation scene and persue music or was this more an experiment?
A:
Volume 2 is already well in the works. A CD can only hold 80 minutes of stuff. I had over 120 minutes already done. So tracks that couldn’t fit on this release will roll over to the next volume, which will probably be 80 minutes as well. Vol 1 could have easily been a double CD but funk that. That’s too much silliness for one release! Also, I think I’d like to have more skits on this next one.
And no, I’m not giving up my gay job, I mean DAY job,(teol) of making cartoons. This music stuff is just a nice, leisurely diversion; something to do when I take a break from my real job of sitting around and staring into space all day.
Q:
Ok so to avoid burning you out with questions about the CD let me give you whiplash by switching topics drastically.. ok so whats your opinion of Michael Vick and that whole preseason drama?
A:
I’ve gotta say that, as an ex-dog fighter myself, I feel for him. It’s never fun when the cops come and wreck shop on your dog fighting ring!
Q:
Yeah that was quite the party foul, so going back to your website…
I noticed what a unique set of fans you have; some take the initiative to send you things through the mail and actually get tattoos of your characters lol. Is there anything else worth mentioning regarding antics / mailings you’ve gotten in the past from your peeps?

A:
Teol, well I don’t get too many CRAZY packages in the REAL mail, there is only so much you can do to a PO box I guess! I’ve got some really cool fan art submissions though! Things like videos, pictures, drawings, audio and the like. I’ve been working on creating a new fan art page and hope to have it up soon.
Q:
Haha, yeah definately do that so I can get the intiative to jumping on that bandwagon. Alright typical last questione, what else are you up to this year, I hate to sound overly cliche but with September already upon us, I cant help but feel like the year is starting to wind down.. Any plans regarding animations/songs/etc?
A:
Yes, big big nasty plans! Unfortunately I can’t talk about any of them right now! Womp womp womp wooooomp… But I WILL say, that Sick Animation the DVD is well on it’s way to being, how you say… DONE!
Well this is just great, for once we can close without mention of cheap booze. Cheers.
